Wine courses for beginners. This qualification offers a practical introduction to the world of wine, exploring the main types and styles of wine through sight, smell and taste, whilst developing the basic skills to accurately describe wines.
The basic principles of food and wine pairing are also covered, exposing the student to practical examples (tastings) and providing knowledge and vocabulary for their development in this area.
Goals
Prepare students for a career in the wine industry
The course seeks to provide initial knowledge in:
- Main types and styles of wine
- The most important grapes for winemaking and their main characteristics
- How to store and serve wine
- Principles of food and wine pairing
- Wine labeling
- How to taste and describe wine using the WSET® Systematic Wine Tasting Technique – Level 1 (SAT)
