With the evidence of the imbalance between economic development and the environment in which the planet currently finds itself, the discussion between renewable and non-renewable energy sources has become increasingly important, and many efforts have been made to promote the adoption of renewable energy in the global energy matrix. The current way in which we generate energy and deal with the waste it produces is insufficient to maintain the planet's natural cycles and to keep it prepared to receive future generations.
In this context, the course serves to demonstrate that biomass can be used to produce heat, whether for industrial thermal use or for generating electricity. Furthermore, it can also be transformed into other forms of solid energy (charcoal, briquettes, pellets), liquid energy (ethanol, biodiesel) and gaseous energy (biogas, biodigesters).
It also addresses the social component, as this new biomass energy conversion has the potential to generate local jobs, avoiding the large rural exodus that has been occurring recently.
It aims to encourage professionals to reflect on the problem and acquire ideas and alternatives for different uses of biomass as a raw material for generating clean and sustainable energy.
Goals
The objective is to identify and use alternative sources of raw materials to transform biomass into different forms of energy (thermal and/or electrical), always taking into account the reduction, reuse and recovery of materials. Attempting to replace the end-of-life concept of the linear economy with new circular flows of reuse, restoration and renewal, in an integrated process.
Recipients
Employees of companies with direct or indirect activities in the field of processing biomass raw materials and biomass energy, researchers interested in acquiring applied knowledge, students, rural landowners, businesspeople.
